Circular office for the Nutrition Center The Hague

Circular office for the Food Centre

The Food Centre in The Hague has moved and now probably -partly thanks to QbiQ- has the most circular office in the Netherlands. LIAG architects and building consultants designed a circular interior of which the basic assumption was to include as many used materials as possible. For instance, the floor covering was previously used at trade fairs and exhibitions and the cupboards and staircase are made of untreated underlayment.

Reuse of modular walls

Most modular glass walls moved along from the old building to the new office at the Bezuidenhoutseweg in The Hague. The extra QbiQ walls that are to be placed, which are Cradle to Cradle certified, were made of remnant profiles and of glass that remains after the cutting process, so-called cutting waste. As we departed from the available material for the construction of the modular walls, it was possible that the profiles as well as the glass panels had different colours. In addition, the modulation of the glass panels was irregular because the width of the glass panels from the cutting waste.

This way the Food Centre, as a socially involved institute, took the lead and shows that you can design an office with a minimum burden on the environment.

Obvion Hypotheken in Heerlen

In the head office of Obvion Hypotheken is a wonderful monumental building, which previously accommodated the technical school. Large, open work spaces were created on several floors. To be able to work concentrated, small bright concentration units were placed. These are made of high-grade modular walls with double glazing and high acoustic values. The doors in these concentration areas are made of an aluminium frame with a sleet plate on both sides.

The eye-catcher in the entrance hall is a large oval consulting room, also with double glazing with high acoustic values. An impressive piece of workmanship, especially if you realise that the inside and outside glass walls both have a different radius.

TruBend Center 5030 typesetting machine

QbiQ bought a new, very advanced TruBend Center 5030 typesetting machine for the production of steel wall panels. With this investment we can serve our customers even better.

The TruBend Series 5000 is the world’s most successful bending machine of TRUMPF. From programming and equipping until the eventual bending, you can produce much more productively. Innovative features, such as the mould shift and the six-axle back gauge, offer you complete freedom of use. Numerous innovations, such as the revolutionary simple and intuitive operation and new solutions in the field of ergonomics, such as the MagicShoe, lighten the operator’s work.

The TruBend Center 5030 is a machine for bending the edges of steel plates. With this machine we can better anticipate the demands of our customers who want steel panels in the modular walls alongside glass panels. Due to our own manufacture of steel wall panels, we can considerably reduce delivery times and increase flexibility. The machine will be supplied early in March 2018. After a two-week installation period the machine will be fully operational by the end of March.

Bronze certificate for QbiQ

QbiQ seriously dedicates itself to a reduced burden on the environment. The Cradle to Cradle Bronze certificate indisputably proves this.

This certificate also indicates that we do not use toxic substances in coatings and assesses green energy use, water pollution and good working conditions. For instance, we developed our own recycling method by constructing the walls with materials that can be fully reused. This already starts with placing the modular walls. All materials in our walls are recycled in a high quality manner after use. The waste is then collected separately.

Apart from the Cradle to Cradle Bronze certification, QbiQ also scored Gold in the areas of Renewable energy & carbon management and Social fairness, and Silver for Material reutilization.

In progress: Project Wijkerzand Projects Den Bosch

Wijkerzand Projecten is a real estate developer that deals with the development of housing and (re) development of commercial real estate. Through a strategic partnerships, Wijkerzand Projecten is able to tackle and realize projects vigorously and energetically. In this project we have installed a total of 120 m2 of different walls.

We are working on a variety of projects from large to small throughout the Netherlands. Despite the size of the project, we always fully commit ourselves and deliver supreme quality.

Overall:

  • 120 m2 QbiQ glass partition walls of type IQ-Single and IQ-Structural.
  • Profile color: RAL 9004 fine Texture.

Corridor separating walls:

  • Walls: IQ-Single, single-glazed wall system.
  • Doors: of the type KDEC, a frame door with single glass centered in the middle.

Room separating walls:

  • A wall system with high sound requirements.
  • Walls: IQ-Structural.
  • Doors: type KDD57D, a frame door with 2 x 8 mm acoustic laminated glass (44a2) and double stop.

Special project: Blokhuispoort in Leeuwarden (The Netherlands)

De Blokhuispoort is a cultural business center that is located in the center of Leeuwarden in The Netherlands. Where in the past detainees were located, now the creative minds, of young people, building there new companies, are in charge. In an inspiring environment, around 100 creative people work separately but also often together. Beautiful products are made and special services are provided.

The renovation of the Blokhuispoort is an ongoing process in which we started placing the glass walls for phase 1 at the beginning of 2017. In 2018 we will also install glass wall systems in this special building in phases. The project is being picked up by Bart Meester (project leader) and Peter Spaanderman (project preparer).

Super fast delivery

Recently, on the 5th December 2017, Van Asperdt Maintenance and Management from Eindhoven received an order to place our walls in the DPD office. With Theo Vos as project manager, we immediately set to work; measure and sketch the space.

At QbiQ we do everything ourselves, including the cutting and grinding of the glass. That’s why we were able to switch quickly. The walls were placed on the first and second floor. The preliminary work, the transport and the assembly were very flexible.

This week, Dennie Blom and Marcel Vis complete the project and deliver it to the customer. Given the super short turnaround time of a month, we have delivered top work with all disciplines. QbiQ: fast and flexible!

Historical project in Delft The Neterlands

In a partially historical building in the center of Delft, a modern and functional working environment was created while retaining the original character. Partly due to the application of a total of 191 m2 IQ-Pro and IQ Structural system walls (part of which with Triple glass).

These system walls (which are provided with black profiles and a transparent foil with a vector design) create a balanced contrast in this beautiful historic building. RAL 7021 (black gray) has been chosen as the color.

The installed doors are of type KDG-100. This concerns a flush door where the glass is glued to the outside of the door. This creates a door to the thickness of the wall whereby the glass of the door is in line with the glass of the walls.

More details about this project can be found on our portfolio page.

Transformation of a monumental building

B30 is the former housing of the Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Trade in The Hague in The Netherlands. The monumental building was ready for a modern metamorphosis. Glass walls can not be overlooked. It has been a year since we delivered this wonderful project.

The building was built in 1917 by Daniel E.C. Knuttel and has been taken care of by KAAN architects. It is now a modern working environment for the employees of five government institutions. The new interior has an open and inviting appearance.

QbiQ goes USA

After successful expansion within Europe in countries such as Belgium and Switzerland, it is now time to go to America’s. On the other side of the Atlantic, the first projects on the East Coast have been sold. The glass partitions walls of QbiQ will be placed in cities such as Miami and New York.

“The American customers are charmed by our minimalistic walls systems with a high luxurious appearance” says Michel van Velsen, responsible for export at QbiQ in The Netherlands. “Besides that, we produce everything ourselves and are very flexible to the market, especially for delivery times”.
